Having formerly fronted the now-defunct garage/punk outfit, Telecast! (c.2005-2015) and a brief stint in the garage/rock act, Knightingale. He is no stranger to maybe 10 people in the whole Singapore underground music scene. Like a fungus that just won't die. This rechristened endeavor, apparently takes the driver seat and plans to drive straight off the ramp and leave a dent on the moon and beyond.

Pretentious? Perhaps? But aren't we all?

Inspired by DIY ethics and it's principles, the music is 90% recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder, no computers were involved and no plug-ins were incorporated.

Although, he is best known to have a penchant for simple angst-ridden songs. Helluva Khai has challenged himself to release a surprisingly out-of-character acoustic EP entitled "True Broke Singaporean Stories" in 2018. The EP, as the title suggests, it is an incomplete take on the lives of lower-incomed Singaporeans. This EP was also Helluva Khai's first foray into producing on his own.

In April of 2019, he returned with his fuzzy-overdriven Flying V and released "Spite (Entrance Theme 1)" as the first single to a full-length album of the same name to be released later in the near future. The second single, "Lighter Fluid" was released soon after and is featured on UK based label, Instereo Records, MIX TAPE VOL2.

"Nice Set, Bro" was released only as a 2019 Vans Musicians Wanted promo. The song is an expression of his disdain towards the weightlessness of words and the questionable social conventions of the music scene in general.

Everything this band does is a prototype, like a child exploring and experiencing the world for the first time. Every time you hear one of his songs, it's either a progression of how much he has learnt from Youtube tutorials or of himself, depends on where you begin. The songwriting is untouched by anyone else but Khai and not much thought went into almost all of it...

"wow, you can read."
